Devotional Gathering enhanced by “Notes of Kin”

On July 22nd 2012 a Devotional Gathering in Redwood City was enhanced by live music from Dena and Billy Harris of the Notes of Kin music group (notesofkin.com).   Visiting our area briefly, Dena and Billy are from Washington State …where they host their own Bahá’í Devotional/Friendship gatherings at their home just north of Olympia, Washington. In the Redwood City Bahá’í community -as in so many Bahá’í communities around the world – Devotional Gatherings are held in private homes. There is no ritual and the prayers and readings are often from the scriptures of the Major Religions of the world including from the Baha’i Sacred Writings. Participants are welcome to bring their own prayer books and offer prayeres from other faith traditions. There is no request for funds and light refreshments are often served.

The wisdom of prayer is this: That it causeth a connection between the servant and the True One, because in that state man with all heart and soul turneth his face towards His Highness the Almighty, seeking His association and desiring His love and compassion. The greatest happiness for a lover is to converse with his beloved, and the greatest gift for a seeker is to become familiar with the object of his longing…
